White Sox 'Closing In' On Luis Robert

The Chicago White Sox have reportedly agreed to a contract agreement with Cuban outfielder Luis Robert.

Robert, 19, will earn a bonus of between $25 million and $30 million.

The St. Louis Cardinals were also considered a strong candidate to sign Robert.

Braves Release James Loney From Triple-A Contract

James Loney has requested and received his release from the Braves' Triple-A Gwinnett team.

Loney, 33, signed a Minor League deal with the team on Thursday after they learned Freddie Freeman will miss about 10 weeks with a fractured left wrist.

On Saturday, the Braves acquired Matt Adams from the St. Louis Cardinals. Adams was immediately inserted into Atlanta's starting lineup on Sunday.

The Chicago White Sox have reached an agreement to sign Cuban prospect Luis Robert, a source confirmed to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick.

Robert's deal with the White Sox is expected to be worth at least $25 million, as first reported Saturday by Fox Sports.

Robert, a 19-year-old outfielder who is listed at 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds, has been on the radar of major league teams since he was 15.

The Miami Marlins have optioned Tom Koehler to Triple-A New Orleans.

Koehler, 30, has been a fixture in Miami's rotation since 2013 and hasn't thrown a pitch in the Minor Leagues since then.

The Marlins avoided arbitration with Koehler prior to the season by agreeing to a one-year, $5.75 million salary for 2017. He allowed eight runs on seven hits and four walks through just three innings on Tuesday night and has already given up 10 home runs in fewer than 40 innings this season.
